QR Code Talker®

Introducing the all new QR Code Talker®Trackable Decals! These unique decals are fully trackable at Geocaching.com. In addition to having their own icon, these have the unique prefix of "QR" too!

Each QR Code Talker®is uniquely programmed to take you directly to the trackable's own page at Geocaching.com where you can discover, grab, retrieve or place the trackable, right from your smartphone. These are made of professional grade vinyl, just like our Vehicle Travel Bugs.

Where will you put your QR Code Talker®?

What is a QR Code? A QR code is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.
Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. QR is the abbreviation for Quick Response, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

What is a Hardlink?

A hardlink (one word) is one of several methods of object hyperlinking including graphical tags (2D barcodes), SMS tags and RFID tags. The hardlink method establishes a reference link between a physical world object and a web page just as a traditional hyperlink establishes an electronic reference to information on a Web page.

How do the QR Code Talkers®work?

These are fully trackable at www.geocaching.com. Our codes have been specially programmed to take you directly to the associated unique trackable web page at www.geocaching.com.

How to activate a QR Code Talker®:

The activation code should be stamped on the back of your decal. You can activate the QR Code Talkers one of two ways:

With a QR Reader:	Take a picture of your new trackable, launch your browser and follow the instructions on your screen.
Without a QR Reader:	Go directly to http://www.geocaching.com/track/activate.aspx and follow the instructions there.

To Discover/Log a QR Code Talker®:

These can be a 5 Star Difficulty (Special equipment = smart phone + QR Reader), or not.

With a QR Reader:	You will need a QR Code reader (available as an app on most smart phones). Simply take a picture of the code with your phone, and your code reader should launch a browser window directly to the unique QR Code Talker®web page. Log like you normally would any other trackable.
Without a QR Reader:	Simply note the tracking number and log it as you normally would any other trackable.
